About

Designed by French architect Paul Andreu, the National Center for the Performing Arts was founded in December 2007. In six short years, this ambitious cultural project, both a technical and aesthetic prowess, was born. Familiarly called "The Egg" because of its oval shape immersed in the artificial lake that surrounds it, the center now houses the greatest artists in the world and rivals the most prestigious international venues.

This huge building of 219,400 square meters, made of titanium and glass, houses a 2,416-seat opera house, a concert hall of 2017 seats, and two theaters, one of which has a capacity of 1040 seats. The shell is a glass window protected with titanium: the NCPA is a cultural island in the middle of a lake.
