Program notes

Andris Nelsons expertly leads the storied Leipzig Gewandhausorchester through a gorgeous Bohemian program featuring the works of Antonin Dvořák—including the "New World" Symphony and the sublime "Song to the Moon" from Rusalka! The soaring soprano voice of Kristine Opolais also enchants the audience in an aria from the opera Dalibor by fellow Czech composer Bedřich Smetana—the only work here not by Dvořák, a fitting tribute to a compatriot whose work bore an immense influence on his own.
