Program notes

In 1721, Johann Sebastian Bach dedicated six new concertos to Prince Christian-Ludwig von Brandenburg-Schwedt. Despite the Prince's admiration, the works were never performed because of their extended instrumentations and musical complexity. The varied and extremely inventive concertos get the star treatment with conductor Reinhard Goebel and the Verbier Festival Chamber Orchestra.
