At just 18 years of age, Yunchan Lim of South Korea became the youngest ever pianist to win the prestigious Van Cliburn International Piano Competition in Fort Worth, Texas, in 2022. Relive every note of his path to victory now on medici.tv!
In a crowded field of talented artists, Lim wasted no time distinguishing himself in the first round, dazzling right away in the commissioned work Fanfare Toccata by Stephen Hough (for which he would also win the award for Best Performance of a New Work), as well as a preternaturally mature Couperin, a glittering Mozart sonata, and a jaw-droppingly assured and note-perfect performance of Chopin's Variations on Là ci darem la mano.
