Born in the US and based in Paris, Dee Dee Bridgewater know her roots are in Africa. This film accompanies her on a voyage to find her origins and confront her own jazz tradition with that of Malian music. "Motherland", a documentary shot between Bamako and Paris retraces the musical and philosophical journey of this unique and renowned artist. An adventure that elegantly underlines the jazz diva's close links with Africa and its music.
