Program notes

With decades of experience and regular appearances at some of the world's most important venues already under her belt, the velvet-voiced singer-songwriter Melody Gardot makes a stop at the Château d'Hérouville, a legendary recording studio installed in a castle in the French countryside that has seen artists like David Bowie, Pink Floyd, and the Bee Gees pass through its doors for unforgettable sessions. Following a 2003 accident that left her hypersensitive to light and sound, Gardot discovered the healing power of music — and her own gifts for composition — and five albums later, this live session shows off the deep and poetic talents of this true original, whose presence on the stage (and on your screen) is always a breath of fresh air.
