О программе
A musical journey between the East and the West during the Renaissance, in company with Jordi Savall, Montserrat Figueras and the musicians of the ensemble Hespèrion XXI.
Not only Jordi Savall has contributed to increase the popularity of the ancient music repertoire, he has also succeeded in building bridges between different musical traditions, as this exceptional concert recorded at the Fontfroide Abbey during the 5th edition of the Festival Musique et Histoire bears witness. Next to the musicians of the ensemble Hespèrion XXI, the singers Montserrat Figueras and Marc Mauillon, the Catalan maestro offers to the audience an original programme gathering works stemming from the musical traditions of Italy, the East, England, France, Germany and Spain; a programme in which a Elizabethan Lullaby stands alongside a the traditional Folia, in which Italian saltarellos of the 16th century echoes the famous song Belle qui tient ma vie by Thoinot Arbeau.
Entitled "Ludi Musici – The Spirit of Singing and Dance. 1450-1650," this concert is an act of faith, bearing witness of the possibilities for cultures to be mutually enriched by a fruitful dialogue, by a respectful sharing of their respective musical repertoires.
