The Concours de Genève - International Music Competition, founded in 1939 as the Concours International d'Exécution Musicale (CIEM), is one of the world’s oldest and most prestigious international music competitions. With the aim to discover, promote, and support young talented artists on the way to an international career, the Concours de Genève also has the distinction of spotlighting different disciplines in every edition. In 2024, it's time for composers and singers to take center stage!
In this second session (following the Opera Semi-Final) to qualify for the Final Round, the eight talented Semi-Finalists — collectively spanning nearly the full range of human vocal capabilities with a baritone, a tenor, two mezzo-sopranos, and four sopranos — perform a freely chosen program of Lieder or songs written for voice and piano or a cappella, including at least one contemporary selection and one written by a woman composer in the first half of the 20th century. Which three of these elite eight will move on to the Final?
