If someone asked me to recount my favorite concert memories, it wouldn’t take me long to mention Vaudou Game. Last year, I was lucky enough to see this project of Togolese guitarist and singer Peter Solo live. I was immediately captivated by the irresistible groove of these funky, vintage-sounding hits: Tata fatiguée, Anniversaire, Pas contente, or the very disco-like Grasse mat, to name but a few. Vaudou Game’s magic formula? Solo’s extraordinary stage presence, his powerful voice, his electric and infectious energy, all accompanied by musicians who play as one. They perform instantly classic melodies and exhilarating choruses at an irresistible tempo, prompting us to sing along with them, just like the audience did during this concert at the Opéra de Lyon.
